Grand Bazaar in Istanbul
With over 4000 shops, the Grand Bazaar is the oldest covered market (or bazaar) in Istanbul and one of the largest in the world.
Built by order of Sultan Mehmet between 1455 and 1560 to stimulate the city's economy, the Grand Bazaar has been fully operational ever since. It was highly prosperous during the Ottoman Empire and had no equal in all of Europe regarding the quality and variety of the goods that one could find there.

The tour starts at the main bus stop for the Big Bus(Busforus) Tour Company at Sultanahmet Square. Look out for the red double-decker buses. It's about 20 metres (65 ft) in front of the Hagia Sophia Museum.
To get to Sultanahmet Square, take the T1 Bağılar - Kabataş tram and get off at Sultanahmet station. Walk towards Hagia Sophia and keep an eye out for the Big Bus stop. Our guides carry a white flag with Istanbul Go Pass logo.
